I mean hey, I wasn't worried...
I knew it.

I was pessimistic after Sherman got fired, but I’ve had second thoughts since. Favre has been quoted several times recently saying, in effect, that coming back would be risking another disappointing season.
Well, I’ve been thinking about that, and it’s not that big a risk. First, injured players, notably Green and Walker, are returning. [Davenport doesn't appear on the depth chart; did I miss something?] Second, the young guys in the O line and defensive secondary have a little more seasoning (not preferable to a player upgrade, but still).

Third, and most importantly, last season was a clinic on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Every single week, one less stupid mistake, one less turnover or penalty, and we had a chance to win. This was a very undisciplined team last year. That probably had something to do with Sherman’s firing (which should have occurred to me at the time). If this year’s version is a little more disciplined, that’ll make more of a difference than anything. I don’t think this is a championship team, but it’s a playoff contender.

Why'd I wait so long to write this? See previous post.
Comments:
I agree. It seems that they did many things better last year than the previous playoff year.
